The first question almost everyone wants to know the answer to is: who is Olde Lady Morgan?
They often expect to learn someone's old grandmother is behind the scenes creating the one of kind handmades I offer in my shop. Well, I am technically a GiGi now, but I actually started my journey as a small business owner 30 years ago as a folk-art painter. Back then, I was young and a bit green knowing how to start a business. But with time, my folk-art grew a wonderful following and I was able to offer my paintings in many different co-ops!
I took a few years off my craft when my boys were in Jr. High and High School sports, but in my down time, discovered and fell in love with the primitive world. I was pulled to the warm patina and inviting look of the primitive style, and wished the old pieces I came across could tell their history and stories. I was suddenly all-in for primitives and antiques, and soon taught myself how to create the primitive dolls and designs I saw on the internet. After awhile, I took a leap and started creating my own one-of-a-kind designs. This is when Olde Lady Morgan was born! In 2012 I reopened my shop, needing a positive distraction and creative outlet after a few personal losses.
Since then, I’ve been honored to have my work published many times in PRIMS Magazine, and my Goofy Jack’s were featured on the final cover before the publication was retired in Fall of 2018. My primitive home décor was also used as a back drop for Country Sampler Magazine, and you can even spy our late, beloved black lab, Knuckles, in one of the photos!
You can now find me at Prestige Creative Markets, located in Bartlett, IL, where I feature a variety of primitive antiques, vintage finds, and handcrafted creations. It is my hope that when you step into my shop it feels warm and welcoming. And, I am always honored when you choose to adopt one of my designs and give them a home in yours. Never be afraid to mix styles! Buy what you love, as it helps your home tell your unique story.
